“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling hereof. Selah.” (Psalm 46:1-3).
First we think about help in trouble. We look at the experience of Jehoshaphat as an example of God’s special help given in a time of trouble. We then consider help when afraid. There are many kinds of fears but there are many words from the Lord telling us not to fear and giving us the reason not to fear. Next we look at help with unbelief, and go on to talk about help in trials. It is comforting to know the Lord has a purpose in our trials and is teaching us in them. Finally we look at help in prayer.
